Barcelona have ‘lost control’ of a deal to sign Ajax captain Matthijs de Light, according to the Spanish press.

The centre-back has emerged as world football’s hottest property and has a number of Europe’s superpowers on his trail.

Barcelona have been leading the way for his signature but Juventus, Bayern Munich and Manchester United have all been credited with an interest.

But now it appears matters have taken a turn.

The transfer is said to have gathered pace back in January, according to SPORT, but now de Ligt’s agent Mino Raiola wants better terms for his client after Ajax’s stunning run to the Champions League final.

Barca are refusing to budge on their current offer, and are said to remain confident that the lure of playing for the club will trump superior financial terms being offered elsewhere.
