Standings implications: Juventus did not bother showing up in Ferrara and allowed SPAL to take home a precious W that gives them a nice cushion. Napoli returned to winning ways after three rounds, mathematically condemning Chievo to Serie B after a very tough season. Inter prevailed in Frosinone, dealing a big blow to the Ciociari’s remaining hopes. Waiting for Atalanta-Empoli on Monday night, Milan and Roma were both successful in the Champions League race and put three more points between themselves and Lazio. Torino did not find a way to down Cagliari, while Sampdoria bested Genoa after two losses, timidly re-entering the fray for Europa League. Another home draw for Fiorentina in Vincenzo Montella’s debut, as the match with Bologna ended with no goals, allowing the Felsinei to get a little closer to Udinese and Genoa. Sassuolo and Parma shared the spoils.

Confirmations: Moise Kean and Leonardo Pavoletti did their thing again, while Fabio Quagliarella was sensational and Gregoire Defrel confirmed his strong form in the Derby della Lanterna. Arkadiusz Milik reached the 20-goal threshold, while Ivan Perisic drilled a penalty for his second goal in the last three appearances.

Guess who is back: while scoring a little on the road, Edin Dzeko had not bagged one at home since October and was shut out in the past six games. Franck Kessie stepped up to the plate and drilled a crucial penalty against Lazio, returning to the stat sheet after a month and a half. Simone Zaza rose to occasion with Andrea Belotti and Iago Falque both sidelined, but got kicked out later on. Radja Nainggolan‘s previous good moment was stopped by an injury, he will try to get it going again after notching his third goal in Frosinone.

Surprise scorers: Kalidou Koulibaly opened his seasonal tally and netted two while he was at it. Sergio Floccari could not have picked a better time for his first goal of the season, while Kevin Bonifazi notched his second one with a perfect thumping header. Francesco Cassata did the same but with an effort from outside the box.

Flops of the round: despite attacking a lot, Fiorentina and Sassuolo could not come up with a goal at home versus Bologna and Parma, which had shown some shortcomings in the back lately. Genoa did not get up for the Derby.

Clutch goal: Matias Vecino prevented any late funny business by Frosinone with a majestic run in the stoppage time that ended with the 3-1 goal.
