Why City can expect to see a better Mahrez next season
Riyad Mahrez might not have made the impact he’d been hoping for in his first season at Manchester City, but the Algerian did come up with some crucial moments.
The £60million man, who became City’s record buy when he joined from Leicester City last summer, started just 14 league games this term, but he signed off in style with the wonderful third goal at Brighton on Sunday, getting the title-winning party started in the south coast sunshine.
Mahrez also whipped in the corner from which Aymeric Laporte restored order against the Seagulls, a corner he had won with some quick feet that forced Mat Ryan into a low save.
This was one of Mahrez’s best performances in a City shirt and it was a glimpse of what he can bring to this squad.
