Liverpool have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Sandro Tonali after the Brescia youngster suggested he’s more likely to remain in Italy this summer.
The 19-year-old midfielder has forged a big reputation despite his tenders years, and has starred in his team’s title-winning Serie B campaign this year.
He was called up to the Italian senior squad in November last year by Roberto Mancini, though he is yet to make an appearance for the national team.
Liverpool have been keeping an eye on his performances this season, but it seems he has his heart set on a switch to a Serie A giant instead.
And, according to Calcio Mercato , recently-crowned champions Juventus and AC Milan are leading the chase for the highly-rated star.
He told the outlet: “We do not know we know from day to day, what matters is making the best choice for me.
“We can’t say if I’m going to Milan or Juve , maybe I’ll stay in Brescia and I’ll do my career there.”
He also spoke about the praise he has received this season, but would rather keep his feet firmly on the ground.
Tonali added: “Comparisons with great players?
“The people who compare me to the great champions are pleased but when I come home and look at myself in the mirror I am always Sandro Tonali.”
The midfield maestro has scored three goals and provided seven assists in 34 league appearances for Brescia this term.
