Liverpool FC won’t be signing Werder Bremen captain Max Kruse on a free transfer this summer, according to a report in England.

The Liverpool Echo is reporting that the Reds had been linked with a potential move to sign the 31-year-old as back-up for Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

The same article states that Liverpool FC will have a reshuffle up front this summer given that their primary back-up striker Daniel Sturridge is set to leave the Merseyside club.

According to the same story, the Reds board have decided to place their faith in Champions League hero Divock Origi and Liverpool FC youngster Rhian Brewster rather than sign a new striker.

Origi scored twice in Liverpool FC’s 4-0 victory over FC Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final at Anfield last month.

The Belgium international came off the bench in the Champions League final to net Liverpool FC’s second goal in a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid.

Brewster, on the other hand, was part of the Liverpool FC squad for the European showpiece but the young striker didn’t make an appearance in the final.

Werder Bremen captain Kruse scored a respectable 11 times in 32 games in the Bundesliga last term but the experienced striker isn’t a prolific goal-scorer.
