Doncaster Rovers are set to sign Rangers winger Glenn Middleton on a season-long loan.

The 19 year-old will join the League One side to gain some first team experience next season, according to a report by the Daily Record.

Middleton, who is a Scotland Under-21 international, made 28 appearances for Steven Gerrard’s side last season and chipped in with five goals.

Doncaster have appointed ex-West Brom boss Darren Moore as their new manager to replace Grant McCann and the 45-year-old is keen to put his own stamp on his newly inherited squad with some new signings.

Middleton will offer Donny more options and depth out wide, as well as something different going forward to what they already have.

The Glasgow-born winger started his career in England with Northampton Town before he was snapped up by Norwich City in 2012. He never made a senior appearance for the Canaries despite being on their bench a couple of times.

Rangers swooped to sign him in January 2018 and he waited until last July to make his first team debut under Gerrard in a Europa League fixture against FC Shkupi.

Middleton is now set to go out on loan to Doncaster and will be looking to impress. His contract at Ibrox expires in the summer of 2023 meaning he still has a lot of years ahead of him with the Glasgow side.
