Aston Villa transfer news LIVE: Who is Christian Luyindama? Dean Smith target wants move and Douglas Luiz news will delight fans

Said Benrahma

Forward Said Benrahma has reportedly told Brentford that he wishes to join Aston Villa this summer.

The Algerian wants a reunion with former Bees boss Dean Smith at Villa Park, and the opportunity to test himself in the Premier League.

Benrahma, formerly of Nice and Angers, has been the subject of a €16m offer from the Lions, reports L’Equipe, and he has informed the London club that he wants a transfer to be quickly agreed between the two clubs.

The 23-year-old only arrived at Griffin Park last summer – during Smith’s tenure – for around £2m from Nice but impressed in the Championship; he scored 11 goals in all competitions, including a hat-trick in a 5-1 win over Hull City.

Villa supposedly enquired about his services shortly after their play-off victory over Derby County, and they were quoted £20m for Benrahma.

Villa, who have also been strongly linked with Benrahma’s teammate Neal Maupay, have already signed eight players this summer, including Bees defender Ezri Konsa.
