Samuel Umtiti transfer

Arsenal look set to miss out on Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti.

That’s according to Spanish newspaper Diario AS, who claim Juventus are close to signing the centre-back.

The French international is widely expected to leave the Nou Camp this summer having fallen behind Clement Lenglet and Gerard Pique in the pecking order.

And Arsenal’s Unai Emery has spoken about the 25-year-old, labelling him a ‘great player’ before commenting on the number of French players he’s managed throughout his career.

But Diario AS claim the Gunners will lose their target to Juventus, who are set to snatch his signature.

Denis Suarez emergency talks

Arsenal loanee Denis Suarez is set to hold talks with Unai Emery in the next 24 hours.

Suarez, 25, joined the Gunners from Barcelona on a loan in January but has failed to start a single game in all competitions.

He’s reportedly been struggling with a groin problem in recent weeks, which has hindered his progress in training.

The Daily Mail claim Arsenal’s medical team have suggested Suarez reduces his load in training in a bid to ease problem.

And it is claimed he will discuss his training schedule with Emery.

It is reportedly feared Suarez has suffered a sports hernia injury but he wants to see if a light workload can resolve the inflammation.

Sign him up!

Arsenal fans want Ian Wright’s grandson to sign after scoring for the Manchester City academy.

Footage has emerged of the Englishman’s grandson, who is in the City academy, showing he has the goal-scoring gene last Saturday.

In the clip, the Citizens are facing rivals Manchester United in the Premier League U18.

This footage was shared on Instagram, where it has been viewed more than 60,000 times.

And the Gunners faithful made it clear they wanted to see the club legend’s relative in north London.

“Get him over to Arsenal, Wright,” one supporter said. Another commented: “We need him in red and white.” While a third simply said: “Bring him to Arsenal, grandad.”

Nicolas Pepe sale

Arsenal have received a boost in their hunt for Lille ace Nicolas Pepe with chairman of the French club Gerard Lopez confirming the forward will be sold this summer.

It’s believed Lille want around €50million (£43m) for the 23-year-old, and Lopez’s comments suggest clubs have already spoken to the Ligue 1 side over a possible transfer.

“It is certain, he will leave,” Lopez said.

“He has moved into a price range that we can not afford anymore. There is a career choice to make for him, I think he will have the choice.”

Timo Werner deal latest

Werner has been linked with Bayern Munich and Liverpool this year after impressing for Leipzig.

The Germanys star has 60 goals in 108 appearances since 2016 and will enter the final 12 months of his deal this summer.

Arsenal to finish fourth

Arsenal will finish in the Premier League top four this season because of the return of two key midfielders, according to ESPN FC pundit Julien Laurens.

A win against Watford tonight would take the Gunners fourth, above Manchester United and Chelsea and still with a game in hand over the latter.

“I’ve got Tottenham and Arsenal [to finish in the top four],” Laurens said. “It’s just because I think Arsenal at some point will have to play well away from home, it can’t always be like at Everton.

“If you go away from home thinking that you can play your fancy football without being aggressive, without being physical, then you’re going to get beaten.”

First call

Unai Emery has revealed that Watford manager Javi Gracia was the first person he spoke to after being offered the Arsenal job – and he took his advice.

“When the possibility opened to sign here, the first coach, the first person in the football world I called was him,” Emery said.

“I asked some questions about the football here, the clubs, Arsenal, and he recommended to me that I come here.

“For example, we had dinner, their coaches and our coaches, one day in St Albans in September.

“We spoke about football here, English football and their experience because they were here six months before us.

“It was a good conversation about football because Javi Gracia is also a football man.

“They are my friends, not only Javi Gracia but also his assistants Zigor Aranalde and Inigo Arteaga.”
